Requirements for being a Florida Fire Fighter
The wrecking crew is looking for motivated, dedicated volunteers to give back to their community. We provided all the training, including FL State Firefighter I, First Responder, CPR and other advanced training. Florosa also provides educational opportunities for advanced fire classes after completion of the the Firefighter I course.
This is a great chance to start in a exciting career in the Fire/EMS service. Feel free to stop by station 5 located on Highway 98 and we will be happy to show you around.
Must be 18 yrs. of age
Must have a high school graduate or have a GED
Must reside in or be able to stay the night inside the fire district on crew nights (one night a week/exceptions on a case by case basis)
Must complete a 6 month probationary period
Must complete the Florida State Firefighter I course (160 hrs) within 1 year
Must never have been convicted of a felony offense
Must have a clean driving record for past 5 years
Must be physically capable of performing firefighter duties
Must show a sincere interest in and dedication to service their community
The fire chief retains the overall final approval of any/all applicants
Florosa Fire Control District provides all protective equipment and training, applicant provides desire, dedication and devotion
